Stay away from Safe Home Security

I was sold with equipment and services on a 2 year contract with Safe Home Security. When it was time for renewal, SHS talked me into a 5 year plan telling me since I paid my equipment for I could cancel at any time. in the second year, I lost my land line phone for 2 months. SHS did not send me a letter of concern, did not try to call my cell phone and was not really concerned until I just figured out SHS was not really monitoring my home from the beginning so I stopped paying them 3 months after I lost my land line. That is when the threading calls from SHS started. They admit they can not monitor my home without a land line telephone however they still expect payment. THIS COMPANY IS BAD. They don't care about the customer but only their payments. I told them if they want to get paid, find a way to monitor my home. They said I would have to pay an extra $500.00 to upgrade my security service which I told them no. Since they were not monitoring my home anyway, I was not going to pay for an upgrade. The calls have not stopped for 2 years now and they still expect payments. I am planning to start legal actions against Safe Home Security in hopes to stop their threats. Stay away from SAFE HOME SECURITY.

Thanks for the update. Safe Home is bad company to do business with.

Everyone should stay away from Safe Home Security. There are better more reliable companies out there.

They have called my family members to contact me! This is illegal!

They claimed they were on a reference list which was an out right lie!

I have an attorney working on filing a suit against them! Has anyone had attorneys/collection agency coming after you?

Guest

Similar issues.

Sold a 5-yr plan to my 80-yr-old mother.

The system would not function proiperly

and they refused to repair it (for YEARS), yet still expect payment to this day.

You can pretty much ignore their harrassment calls because they usually breach the terms

of their own agreement by not servicing the equipment. So if they breached agreement, don't pay.

This is simply a scamming collections company with security service as a 'front'. They operate under different names

but always look for WHO owns them.

If it is a "David Roman' Stay away.

SAFE HOME SECURITY

Signed up with this company a year ago for a ONE YEAR contract. Service failed over four months ago - security cameras failed to work. They promised to replace. Still no cameras. Called several times. Spoke numerous times with Ashley Morgan who promised to fix situation. Called to cancel service since we got no where. they are refusing to cancel stating we have 3 year contract and threatened to sue us if we cancelled. DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY!!!! Mr. Martinez was person we spoke with. Horrible customer service. Threatening demeanor. Refused to listen. Awful service! Now still no cameras and we had to switch - and do not care if they pursue legal action. We have written texts of promises and no service for four months!!

You did not get service because they don't exist in Atlanta...I'm an install tech who happens to know this has also happened in my area with PINNICLE security which was changed to APX or APEX then to VIVANT...oh and after the owner sold this company we can all wonder what their false name will be next. I have been w/ A.D.T.

for years and have seen it all...another company to watch out for is DEFENDER security another bad company...over 90% of any service call I have ever done for these shotty installs I litterally laugh and have to excuse myself to the customer...VIVANT is issuing a panel called the "2GIG GO Panel...one word JUNK this is a panel that has recall issues yet they are still being installed...(FIRE HAZZARD). the JUNK that DEFENDER uses is General Electric and/or DSC made products that works just long enough for their company to no longer be responsible for...BEWARE of any systems called DSC 9047 or SIMON3 or SIMONxt like I mentioned these panels are junk and I cant believe A.D.T.

even allows their so called TOP DEALERS to consider installing these products. In my opinion you cannot go wrong w/ a bullit proof system made by HONEYWELL an american name you can trust...

Stay away from Safe Home Security

I signed on with Safe Home Security and fulfilled the original 3 year contract. At the end of that time I was able to convince them to let me go month by month. After a year and a half I decided to cancel their service. That was in May. It is now November and I'm still getting billed. I have called, literally, 15 times and each time they say they will take care of it. I am so sick and tired of dealing with these people. I don't know what's worse, incompetence or unethical business practices. Do not do business with Safe Home Security. Buy a $200 security alarm, and find someone who only charges ~$15/month with no contract.

They will not allow contract cancellation!

Written by GTL on September 12, 2012 From Charleston, West Virginia, US I have been going through the attempted cancellation process also. My contract was up I started attempts to cancel service a month early. Now it is 2 months past my contract and additional $88.00 withdrawn from my account and they change companies when you stop payment at your bank. I requested that they cancel my service using the Better Business Bureau also. I have now found that my state and city may have interest in this company since they could not provide me with a City and state license number. My city demands that all businesses register with them and report quarterly sales for services. This company is a service and must follow the City guidelines as well as state. When I had a service company I was liable to pay taxes on every dollar I brought in from every city in my state as well as filings and taxes for the state. My bank said I would have to close my account to stop this. I suggest to every consumer that has had problems with this company to verify that they are in compliance with your city and state. Start by getting the license numbers then take it to your city and state departments. I am even taking receipt of my payments to them for the past 3 years. If they use sub companies then those companies are liable for the tax. They could be liable for millions in taxes ...who knows. Or they may be a good reputable company. Let's find out! I know who I'm betting on!

Safe Home Security stole out of my checking account

Canceled my account with them after my contract ran out. Took almost 6 months to get them to concel even after my contract was done. They continued to withdraw money from my checking account and after each time they said they would then refund the money. After 9 times I had to go to my bank to stop them and the BBB. Now Safe Home Security says something different each time you call. They will steal from your account. they have plenty of excuses why you cant cancel and they now say it takes 3 months to cancel still doesn't explain the 6 other times that they stole money out of my account. They sent a letter to the BBB saying they would refund the money and when I called they said send us a copy of the letter we sent, why would I send them a copy of a letter they sent.

Well, I just found this article after getting off the phone with 3 of these people. My account was transferred to them after I canceled my service with VMS (Well I thought it was canceled) and now they are running me through it with reasons it was never canceled.

My 36 months was up, but they are hanging on a technicality that the cancellation must be in writing. I just found this out and am going to the bank to stop this tomorrow. The gal said she would send a bill if I stopped the automatic payment and I am sure they will post it against me. They already caused an overdraft for me last month that the bank helped me with.

I really feel like a victim here. Is there really nothing we can do about this.

I have 4 total attempts to cancel documented with names and times, but what good will it really do. This company is the devil!

SAFE HOME SECURITY has to be the absolute most unprofesssional, crooked, unethical corperation I've had dealings with. They sent me a copy of my contrat they altered (I kept both of my copies).

They are charging me $10 more than the contracted amount. I ended up in their collection department, partially because of a mistake I made and partially because of more than one mistake the billing deptmartment made. Their collection dept is harder to get out of than catching up a credit card with a high interest rates and all the monthly fees you can imagine. I have paid monthly amounts, lump sums, as well as certified check paying the balance due plus two months ahead and I am still in theire collection dept.

I am confident this is because their collection employees are commisioned. The employees speak to you with total dissrespect and you dare not try to complian, this I'm sure is the other reason I can not get out of the collection dept. You can not buy out of the contract at a discounted rate (as you can with AT&T and other corperations). I sent a letter a year in advance to be sure this contract will not renew and of course they do not have it on file.

I was given bad email addresses (vhallowell1629@***.com). I have received harassing phone calls on my cell phone and while at work. I have called at 6:45 to be told " we getting ready to leave, you'll have to call back tomorrow". I started that call, as I always start any call, with "Hi, how are you".

The responce was "who are you". I have only one blemish on my credit report and it is from SAFE HOME SECURITY INC. I spoke with two representatives on two occasions in an attempt to follow the chain of command, they both said they would do a credit repair if I agreed to pay a certain amount. I paid that amount, the agreement changed and I could not get either person that made the aggreements on the phone again.

This can't be legal! To the person making positive comments on the "Complaints Board", I'm guessing you are employeed or have some sort of inerest in SAFE HOME SECURITY INC. .... Your damage controle efforts should start with in your company!!!

You can and should contact your States Atty Generals office as well as the Atty Generals office of Connecticut.

I am reasearching a class action law suit as well. I dont care if I get a dime as long as someone of something puts a stop to this and shuts this company down!!!!

I agree with efforts to stop this company and will support with all documentation I have. This needs to be addressed so more innocent consumers do not fall victim to this company and their unethical tactics.

I want to be in on the Class Action when started. I too havew been robbed by this company.

Back in 2010 when they came to my door and slammed my real company saying they had taken over and changed their name. I ended up paying two companies for almost a year, until my real company was able to get the illegal contract canceled with Safe Home Security/Security One or so we thought. Now in June of 2012 I see Security One debiting my account AGAIN!

Called them and they are saying I am still under contract with them even though they haven't been charged since 2010. I'm back at square one 2 years later!!!

They sent an unlicensed salesman to my home. SHS didnt even have a license in my state and monitored me illegally for a time.

It wasnt until I filed complaints with both Attorney General and dept of criminal justice did they back off.

They will even harrass and try to convince ex-cuatomers to sign up service with them again even tho the customer left years ago on unhappy terms. Get the WORD OUT to not use this unsavory company and I hope a law suit is filed class action

I have a certified letter to get out of contract, will it work? After reading all these complaints I am really concerned.

They also rolled me over and said it was for three years they lied because they can only roll you over for 1 year if you don't cancel 60 days in advance, now they got me to sign another contract for another 3 years, by using lies, and took out the service without telling me, How terrible they are. soon it's up again,....How do I get out of this if there not anwering certified mail?

R Cruz, I'm in the same situation like many of the consumers posting. I'm about to take the same route you are with the Department of Consumer Affairs. How's that process going for you so far?

My 85yrs Mother signed up with Security One and then Safe Home Security bought out her Contract. Her 3yr contract ended Sept 22nd 2012 and Safe Home Security tryed to sign her for a 60month contract.

after calling safe home security talking to people and even one of them laughing at my complaints. I contacted the state of California Department of Consumer Affairs.

Department of Consumer Affairs call Safe Home Security on my Mothers behalf. We are in the process of Canceling our Contract with Safe Home Security.

They sent an unlicensed salesman and also monbitored me illegally for almost a year. They harrassed me until I contacted both the dept of criminal justic securities sectiona nd Attourney General.

Only then did the harrassmsnt STOP.

They then had to apply for a license and they may have paid many fines etc etc but who would want to hire such a deceitful company who had to pander business to a disabled person illegally? Get the WORD OUT to STAY AWAY from SHS and file complaints so that a lawsuit can be filed

Guest

I an very sorry of all the mess this company has caused to a lot of people. There are many ways to get out of the contract without paying anything extra or tied down to another 1; 3; or even a 5 year contract. The ONLY way is to send it certified mail. so there can be some one to sign and that is proof enough. you have 60 days before your contract renews. IT IS IN THE CONTRACT - YOU WILL AUTO FOR MORE YEARS. Do your homework right and you can still get out of contract. Check your paperwork you signed. If they are breach of contract, which they always are, find it. Like equipment not working properly. They should have LIFETIME WARRANTY on the WHOLE equipment.

You can let them know that you can no longer make payments due to Medical reasons, all the way to you are going to be out of the country for a long period of time and that you will no longer be able to make any payments - you have also lost your house. You lost your job. At the end of the conversation of your reason, let them know you will sign with them again as you "LOVED THEIR SERVICE - EQUIPMENT - CUSTOMER SERVICE - WHAT EVER WORKS" but don't let them know why. Otherwise they will lose MONEY! THAT IS RIGHT - MONEY! Key point here - they make RESIDUAL MONEY! So every payment you make they ONLY PAY $6 FOR BASIC MONITORING. THEY DON'T DO THE MONITORING! THEY PAY $6 EVERY MONTH TO A 3RD PARTY COMPANY TO DO THE MONITORING. THE REST IS NOTHING BUT STRAIGHT PROFITS. Do the math - how much don't they make on EASY MONEY?!

I had STRONG TIES TO THIS COMPANY AND A DEALER OF THEIRS. I AM NOT OKAY WITH THEM DOING BUSINESS THIS MATTER. I AM IN THE ALARM BUSINESS AND THIS IS MY CAREER. THEY WILL NOT BE IN BUSINESS MUCH LONGER. VERY EASY TO GET ALL OF YOUR MONEY BACK - CLASS ACTION SUIT! IF ALL THE CUSTOMERS COME TOGETHER AND PUT AN END TO THIS TYPE OF BUSINESS! AND LET THE REAL COMPANIES STAY IN BUSINESS WITH CUSTOMERS THAT THEY HAVE DONE WRONG!

ONCE AGAIN I AM VERY SORRY THAT SHS HAS PUT THE ALARM INDUSTRY TO SHAME. NOT MUCH DIFFERENT FROM ADT AND THEIR DEALERS.

GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL AND HOPE THIS HELPS.

Guest

They cannot hold you to 3 years unless you already agreed to it when you signed your original contract. Check your paperwork from when you signed up.

If it only says it will roll over for 1 year at a time, then it will roll over for 1 year at a time, and they cannot extend past what you signed. However, if you agreed to 3 years, you already gave them consent. I have heard of them shortening to a one year often, so try that.

Also, you might be able to e-mail them, and you would have an electronic receipt. Best of Luck

Unauthorized $199.00 from my checking account

On September 5, 2012 I noticed that $199.00 had been withdrawn from my checking account. I have no idea why and didn't realize that I not only allowed automatic deductions but also have no idea what this $199.00 amount is for. I contacted my bank and explained what happened and they have stopped future 'automatic' withdraws and have contacted Home Safe about this amount. I was waiting for a new cell system to be installed (after 1 month of non-service) and the severice man never returned the following day to complete the job. I am totally dissatisfied with the service and the company. I had no idea that this company operates out of state. I perfer to do business locally...

Safe Home Security Inc is a RIPOFF!

First, we were robbed back in Sept 2010 but they did not make off with anything thanks to our neighbor with a gun; we got Safe Home because a family member was selling it (yeah, they lied to her too about some things). We had another break-in 3 weeks later - the first jab they tried to test the security system to see if it would go off. The cops came, we got a call (while we were at the beach for a wedding) and they said everything was secure (our landlord had not replaced our back door yet from the first break-in, but he did repair some damage so that the door would lock and he put in an extra lock until the new door could come in-the cop noticed this and we let him know what had happened before). Safe Home said that they would reset the alarm - yeah, reset means they would turn the alarm off and reset it again BUT someone has to go in and put the code in to turn the alarm ON!! They failed to tell us that and we did not know until the next morning that they had tried again. My brother-in-law went over to check things out and the punks had ripped the electrical box OFF of the house and cut the power to the alarm (which is supposed to be battery back up - that did not matter since the *** thing had not been reactivated). Safe Home said they were sorry and blah blah blah - but that does not replace our $700 42" flat screen nor the damage to the house. Now we have moved and they have been charging us for the past 3 months for an alarm on a house that we are no longer in. They told me "In your contract....blah blah blah" that we had to send a 60 day written notice before the termination of the contract. I told them the person who sold it to us did not tell us that and did not make sure we read the contract as it was a friend of a family member who was helping them out. DO NOT GO THROUGH THIS COMPANY!!! A 3-yr contract is *** and they just want your money. This was not put in our name, so I am sad it may go against our family member, but I am not paying for a security system when I was told after a year we could cancel and obviously that was misinformation passed onto our family member that was passed on to us. All to make a sale!! Everyone is at fault here, so now we are waiting to see who will make it right. I am just going to forget what they have been charging us since it was somewhat my fault for not following up and leaving it to other people to do what needed to be done, but they sure as *** will not get anymore money. I have to close my checking account out now. SAFE HOME...YOU STINK!!!

I work at this disgusting, scamming dumphole. I've done telemarketing before in the past, but I've never worked for such scambags.

The place is a joke. We get paid garbage, have to screw people out of thousands of dollars, if we don't scan a certain amount of money each month/get a certain amount of contracts, we lose our jobs. Jennifer Curet is no longer even working here, she moved onto a better employer.

It's in your best bet to never, ever use Safe Home and just go somewhere else. Do anything, choose anyone, just not Safe Home.

Guest

Hi, I was just on the phone with the scammers who say that I can't get out of this contract even though I've moved to a different house in a different country. Here are the instructions for ending a contract with them within the first 5 years:

You'll need:

1) a written letter that you want the account cancelled due to sale of home, and

2) a bill of sale that you are no longer the homeowner.

Once these documentations are received the account will automatically cancel before its primary term.

This is according to:

Jennifer Curet

Customer Service

Safe Home Security

55 Sebethe Dr.

Cromwell, CT. 06416

(800)833-**** x1160

You can email her the two documents at:

JCuret@***.com

www.safehomesecurityinc.com

Good luck getting out of their grubby contract. It's so shoddy and scammy. I can't believe I didn't realize I was signing up for 60 months of payments with no out clause. I bet it wouldn't stand up in court. :( :( :(

Guest

We called to cancel our account due for financial reasons and were told we needed to give them 60 days advance notice, to cancel even though our alarm was no longer working...they wanted us to pay the house call and have another 3 years added on. We contacted a lawyer he said not to pay the bill, but it would ruin our credit if we didn't.

SO guess what...we are stuck for another 3 years.

They finally did fix our alarm, but we are stuck paying...! STINKEY BUSINESS.

Guest

Emilie, why would you ever expect a security system to replace/re-imburse you for stolen items? Don't you know that's what homeowners insurance is for?

And if you don't have that then your not very smart to begin with.

Also, if you signed a contract then your locked into that contract for the agreed amount of time. If you moved that's your problem, grow up and put your big girl pants on!

Always Safe Home Security should be sued

Always safe has been told numerous times this is an apt, complex and that I am on the Do Not Call list, Had 128 Calls in the past two weeks. My Lawyer advises me to bring suit against them and I keep a list of times on the caller ID. Also got one call at 4 am. Who the *** runs this? Guess we will know soon once suit is filed. Keep a log on your caller ID and lets nail these people to the wall. And thanks to the ones who started this site to have an outlet for this kind of stupidity and lies.

I am in the same boat. Never ending charges with no way out.

My 3 year contract was completed and canceled with a company called VMS who sold it to SHS once I canceled. They are now on the second month of charges to my account. They change the name once you stop payment on the account. They said I can cancel by written notice.

I have used the Better Business Bureau to document as well as USPS and email and still get charges. I ripped the thing off my wall after the frustrating endless conversations with this company.

They accept a password to cancel an alarm - Why won't they accept a password to cancel service? They are crooks!

Guest

Safe Home Security is taking money out of my checking account too. I cancelled my account in May 2012.

They sent me a letter saying that I was still under contract. My contract was 1 year. They were not even the company I signed with. I signed with a acompany called Alarm Traders.

Safe Home bought them out, they never even informed me until I saw their name as a withdrawal from my checking account. My account was on a month to month basis. All I had to do was send a letter 30 days in advance stating I was cancelling. That was what I signed with Alarm Traders.

This company has decided not to honor this. I have written letters called customer service countless times. They say the payments have stopped and you will get a refund. Another month comes and they take money out my account again.

My bank tells me I can stop payment and pay a fee but it is not 100% that they won't get around it. The bank tells me the only way to really insure them to stop is to close my account. I have had this account for almost 20 years.

I am pissed about this. Seems that I am getting screwed again!!!!

Safe Home Security is a rip off

I paid Safe Home Security every month for 4 years only to find out they were not really monitoring my home. The county I lived in cut my landline phone without my knowledge since I only use the landline for Internet services. The line was cut for over 2 weeks without any notifications or reaction from Safe Home Security. Only when I stopped my monthly payments months later did Safe Home Security respond to a need. This company needs to be shut down and never be in business again. They will continue to harass you with phone calls for payments when they do not care about their customers. Consumers need to stay away from Safe Home Security.

NEVER ENDING CONTRACT!!!! STAY FAR, FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!

To everyone that is pissed with this company I am right there with you. The contract with them never ends. I started a contract; one year into the contract I moved, notififed them of the move and was told oh that contract is for 3 years. I'm thinking Oh wow, ok let me honor the contract because they started talking about early termation fees etc. Well for the next 2 years I paid on a security system for a home that over 18 months was not used. About 4 months before the contract was to end I contacted them ensured everything was in place for a smooth cancellation at the end of year 3. I was told send a letter we must have something writing. Send the letter called 2 weeks later the letter was received. At the end of the 3 years the bank draft stopped and I concluded I was done dealing with SHS......NOT!!!!!! It all started 6 months after the contract ended I started receiving phone calls and emails saying I was past due; GUESS WHAT....now the contract didn't end at 6 months because they weren't notified 60 days prior to the contract end date the contract automatically renewed. WHAT KIND OF *** IS THAT!!!! So you're saying the letter I sent and you received greater than 90 days before contract end date was not sufficient...well apparently by now they hadn't received a letter. There is no note on the file, no request to close, nothing. Like the previous responder. I too pressed on with life deciding there was wayyyyyy more the life than trying to defend a close contract against SHS; much like they have explained I too received my credit report. I typically check is every 1-3 months. For sure it was not there is Jan but now it is showing up on my credit report as a derogatory account and in a 90 day past due status since 2010. READERS BEWARE! READ ALL THESE I AM PISSED POSTS!!!! WE DO NOT WANT THIS TO BE YOU BUT IF YOU DECIDE TO GO WITH THEM THIS WILL BE YOU. I HIGHLY HIGHLY STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU NOT CHOOSE THIS COMPANY. YOU WILL BE ANGRY YOU DID!

There is so much to say, but I'll remain focused.

This company called in mid-November to ask if we wanted to renew the contract. We did not as we no longer live at that residence. After being told that we did not want to renew, the representative advised that the contract already renewed automatically due to the contract language.

Apparently, if you do not send in written notification before 60 days of the contract expiration, it automatically renews for another year. They are completely inflexible in this.

The inflexibility is only part of the problem. When speaking with the customer service manager, I asked him if he honestly, as a human being, expected a consumer to remember the contract language after 5 years of service, he stated, "yes." Furthermore, he stated that he would have sent in his notification about 1 month after entering into the contract. Sure you would have, Joe...sure you would have.

When asked why the company called 45 days prior to the contract expiration rather than prior to the 60 day deadline, no employee could offer me a valid answer. In fact, there was one representative that simply remained silent. I respect that one the most.

Let it be known that we called about 1 year prior to our contract expiration, my wife callled to cancel our contract due to moving residences. The refused, which I understood. We agreed to a 5 year term--so be it. Nobody informed/reminded us that a written notification was necessary during that call. Also, let it be known that we sent written confirmation, with confirmed receipt, 45 days prior to the expiration. The point is that our intent to renew was clearly documented at the company 1 year prior to the expiration. Still, not good enough for Safe Home Security.

The company takes hard line on this contract renewal. I asked the customer service manager, Joe Octave, why they don't call their customers prior to the 60 day deadline. He didn't have a constructive answer, but the tone of his response was that it is the customer's responsibility. Now, that's customer service, right? The point is, he couldn't be bothered.

I asked him to speak with the manager of the resolution department, Justin Lavoy. Joe came back and advised that Joel's stance was that there was no need for him to speak with me. That simply didn't do. I called Justin and left a less than cordial voicemail about his failure to serve his customers and his appauling refusal to speak with a customer. That's your job, Justin.

Justin actually called me right back. When I informed him that his company was not operating with fair business practices, he disagreed. His response was comical. He stated that he thinks his company is being more than fair by "offering another year's worth of service to protect your [my] family." Comical. He actually implied that he was doing me a favor. Pompous!

Well, Justin got reasonable once I informed him that I, and the family that he so wanted to protect, no longer lived at the address with the system. (I and my wife told multiple people this in multiple discussions). I requested emailed confirmation of this; he complied.

Though I have an acceptable resolution to my problem, the fact remains that this company will continue to bully consumers into additional contracts. It seems to be that if your company takes such a hard line on contract language, they should provide customer's with a phone call prior to the 60 day deadline.

My wife and I also had to leave mutliple messages and speak with multiple people to get action. I even had to call the COO of the company. He couldn't be bothered to return my call, of course.

If you are having problems with the company, here are some valid numbers to call:

Main number: 1-80*-833-****

Joe Octave x 1162 (Customer Service "Manager")

Justin Lavoy x 1105 (Resolution Manager)

Shane Manzo x 1100 (somebody that always "in a meeting")

Al Sheehan x 1102 (Chief Operations Officer)

I would recommend that everyone focus their calls on these four people. Other than the satisfaction I would get in them all getting annoyed with a high volume of calls, maybe they will get a clue.

Looks like the COO, Al Sheehan is now the "Corporate Director of Consumer Affairs" according to the BBB. I don't understand how this company gets away with this type of business practice.

They tie people up in contracts and they never let you leave your contract even if you follow their ridiculous cancellation process. Phone carrier's have contracts, but they allow the consumer a way out. This company doesn't.

They tell you one thing and continue to bill you. I hope they all get cancer.

Reported late payments to credit agencies after contract expired/not renewed

I had been a customer of Safe Home Security for the usual 36 month term contract. During the last 6 months of that contract I was approached by ADT who offered a better package and to buy out the remainder of my contract. Checking the terms of my contract for cancellation, I wrote a letter to state my wishes and to forward a buy out figure. Needless to say, I had to make my request more than once. They finally sent a form letter asking me to reconsider and a senior account specialists would contact me to discuss my reasons for a cancellation request. I explained but politely responded that I had made my decision to go with another company. My final buyout figure never arrived. I did receive my usual quarterly statements for the 3rd and last quarter of 2010 (contract expired January 2011). Paid the balances in full well in advance but continued to receive billings after the contracted ended. Called SHS customer service and was given some "*** and bull story" about going to Cancellation Department/ Resolution Department" and that a manger would call back. Never received that either. Finally, I went online to download and complete a complaint form with the the Connecticut State Attorney General's office. I faxed SHS a copy of the completed report threatening to file and send a copy to the local newspaper as well. I was later able to speak to a CS representative (got names and extension#s with documented phone calls and all communications) who acknowledged that the contract was paid in full per terms and I should not receive and further billings. I did not give SHS another thought until I recently reviewed my Free Annual Credit Report to discover that they reported last payments for services after the contract had expired. If this is not another of many complaints about this company to discourage you even considering contracting with SHS, then I just don't know what is! Don't give this company your home security monitoring business!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Safe Home Securities deceitful contract practices

In January 2012 I was contacted by Stephen Neubert, a representative from Safe Home Securities. Stephen was "just checking in" with me and making sure I was happy with my alarm service with Safe Home Securities. I told Stephen that I had had some problems with my system, a system that I paid close to $3,000 for 5 years prior. He said he would send me out a manual for my system and then he asked me to sign a renewal contract. I asked him if I could keep paying month-to-month rather than renewing my contract with Safe Home Securities and he would not answer the question directly, although he kept saying that he wanted to make sure my house with protected. Whatever. After doing some due diligence with other alarm companies, I found a service that would charge me $5.95 per month rather than the $30 per month that I was being charged by Safe Home Securities. I signed up for the alternative service and emailed Stephen that I wanted to discontinue my service with Safe Home and to please send me my final invoice. I then received a phone call from Tracy from Safe Home Securities collection department stating that they had received my notice to terminate service. She informed me that my contract had "auto-renewed" back in December 2011 and that I had to fulfill the remainder of my contract. I asked her why Stephen had asked me to sign a new contact if my contract had "auto-renewed" and she had no answer for this. Now, Safe Home Securities continues to harass me with phone calls looking for me to pay the remainder of my contract, which I never signed up for. If you are looking for a house alarm, my advice is to stay away from Safe Home Securities. There are plenty of services out there which will charge you far less to install a system and monitor it on a monthly basis. Many have no contract at all, which makes sense, especially if you are paying for the equipment costs out-of-pocket.

Don't give in! What they are doing is criminal!

What is the basis for the contract extension? What "consideration" is the customer getting for the contract extension?

Nothing. The clause hidden in the original contract should be seen for what it is, a deceitful business practice.

Oh yes I know 5 call a day Tracy she is the main reason I am pissed.
